LAURETH-4
Laureth-4 is a synthetic ingredient derived from lauryl alcohol. It fulfills several roles in cosmetic formulations: a surfactant that facilitates the mixing of oil and water phases, an emulsifier that stabilizes emulsions, an antistatic agent that reduces static electricity, and it is also involved in hair care and perfuming.
Roles & functions
Hair conditioning — Improves the appearance, softness and manageability of the hair.
Perfuming — Adds a scent to the product or masks the odour of raw materials.
Surfactant — Lowers the tension between two surfaces; cleanses and helps remove impurities.
Emulsifying — Allows phases that do not naturally mix, such as water and oil, to be blended together.
