LANOLIN
Lanolin is a waxy substance of animal origin, extracted from sheep's wool. It acts as an emollient and emulsifier in cosmetic formulations, facilitating the formation and stability of emulsions while softening the skin and hair.
Roles & functions
Skin conditioning — Keeps the skin in good condition and protects it; improves its comfort.
Emollient — Softens and smooths the skin while limiting water loss.
Hair conditioning — Improves the appearance, softness and manageability of the hair.
Surfactant — Lowers the tension between two surfaces; cleanses and helps remove impurities.
Emulsifying — Allows phases that do not naturally mix, such as water and oil, to be blended together.
Antistatic — Reduces static electricity, particularly on the hair.
