Cinnamon bark extract
Cinnamomum zeylanicum (Ceylon cinnamon) bark extract is a plant-derived ingredient obtained through extraction. It performs several roles in a cosmetic formulation: emollient, humectant, antioxidant, astringent, perfuming, and preservative.
Roles & functions
Skin conditioning — Keeps the skin in good condition and protects it; improves its comfort.
Emollient — Softens and smooths the skin while limiting water loss.
Perfuming — Adds a scent to the product or masks the odour of raw materials.
Antioxidant — Limits oxidation and helps preserve the formula over time.
Humectant — Attracts and retains water to help maintain hydration.
Preservative — Limits the growth of micro-organisms to preserve the product.
Astringent — Temporarily tightens the skin or the pores.
