Birch wood extract
Extract from the wood of Betula pendula, obtained by solvent extraction. This ingredient serves several functions in formulation: antioxidant, emulsifier, thickening agent, film-forming agent, abrasive, exfoliant, and pH adjuster.
Roles & functions
Antioxidant — Limits oxidation and helps preserve the formula over time.
Emulsifying — Allows phases that do not naturally mix, such as water and oil, to be blended together.
Viscosity controlling — Increases viscosity and gives the product its texture.
Film forming — Forms a film on the surface of the skin or hair.
Abrasive — Helps remove particles through friction (polishing, scrubbing).
Exfoliating — Helps remove dead cells from the surface of the skin.
Buffering — Adjusts and stabilises the pH of the formula.
