BETAINE
Betaine (INCI: Betaine) is a compound of plant or synthetic origin. It acts as a humectant by retaining water in formulations, as a thickener to increase viscosity, and as an antistatic agent to reduce static electricity, particularly in hair and skin care products.
Roles & functions
Skin conditioning — Keeps the skin in good condition and protects it; improves its comfort.
Hair conditioning — Improves the appearance, softness and manageability of the hair.
Humectant — Attracts and retains water to help maintain hydration.
Viscosity controlling — Increases viscosity and gives the product its texture.
Antistatic — Reduces static electricity, particularly on the hair.
